Role and Responsibilities of TIFAC
To make efforts for quarterly or biannual review/audit of IP of the institution
- Team TIFAC would interact with following in all Departments of the institute:
- Faculty
- Researchers- PhD and M.Tech /M.Sc etc.
- Team TIFAC will visit library and explore possibility of IP Protection from institutes publications
- Website of the Institute would be regularly monitored for any potential IP
- Also would monitor news about Institute
- Collaboration of the Institute
- IP applications already filed and their status
To do Assessment of Protect ability of creative outcome from member institution on priority basis (free of cost for members)
To provide Technical, legal and financial support for filing, prosecution and management of IP rights, utilising various schemes of Government (including eligible financial support) through single window.
- To do Liaisoning with Industry and scientists
- To do Liaisoning with different government Departments offering financial and other support to leverage benefits to members.
- To provide Technology/IP marketing and management platform
- To support members Legal and Management for Technology Transfer/Commercialisation
- Will provide templets for NDA, MTA etc with customisation support.
- Draft Cooperative product development partnership agreements.
- Negotiation of licensing and transfer.
- Provide support for Post licensing management of technology, technology fee and royalties.
- Will mentor scientists and start-ups
- Will conduct periodic online and offline workshops and training
- Organise IPR Clinics on case-to-case basis
- Help developing business plan
One IP expert and one Technology Transfer executive would make these interactions and conduct quarterly or biannual audit of Technologies and IP generated by the Institute.
Role and Responsibilities of Institute/Industry availing these services
- Provide access TIFAC to documentation in consultation with concerned researchers/faculty of the institute.
- Timely response to queries by TIFAC.
- Execution of documents such PoA etc. in the name of IP Attorney firms on TIFAC panel; filing of which are necessary during filing and prosecuting IP applications in the name of NITD.
- Participation from the institute for negotiation and PoA to TIFAC for negotiating technology transfer deal on behalf of NITD.
- Provide stay, local travel and local hospitality without any charges for TIFAC officials/representative for execution of work within the scope this MoU at Durgapur.
- Institute pay Membership fee as per details given below:
- Institutional membership ₹10 Lakhs per year for first 3 years and ₹ 5 Lakhs per year subsequently.
- Industry Membership negotiable based on requirement.
- Benefit sharing: After institute or individual recouping, membership fee will share 20% of benefits accrued to them in the form of lump sum or royalty income with TIFAC.
